The transaction strengthens Maccaferri’s position in the New Zealand and Pacific markets, building on GPIL’s local expertise and established customer relationships to support the Group’s long-term growth in the region.
Auckland, New Zealand, November 5, 2026 – Officine Maccaferri, a global leader in civil and environmental engineering solutions, announces the acquisition of Geosynthetic Partners International Limited (GPIL), a New Zealand-based supplier of specialist products and solutions for the construction, civil, geotechnical and structural engineering sectors.
Founded in 2018, GPIL expanded its portfolio of geosynthetic solutions in 2021 to better serve New Zealand’s engineering sector. Today, the company provides a broad range of specialist products for civil, geotechnical and structural engineering, including geotextiles, geogrids and drainage composites, supporting infrastructure and environmental applications such as ground improvement, retaining structures, slope protection, erosion control, coastal and stormwater management. Over the years, the company has developed strong local market knowledge and customer relationships.
The transaction marks a further step in Maccaferri’s international growth strategy, expanding its presence in New Zealand and reinforcing the Group’s long-term commitment to Southeast Asia and the Pacific, a region offering significant infrastructure and development opportunities. In New Zealand, strong ongoing infrastructure development underscores the importance of specialist solutions and technical expertise tailored to local engineering needs. Against this backdrop, Maccaferri aims to build on its past and current presence in the country and further consolidate its position in the local market, combining GPIL’s established local knowledge and customer relationships with the Group’s international engineering expertise and technical resources.
As part of the Maccaferri Group, GPIL will continue to support customers and partners in New Zealand and the Pacific, ensuring continuity of service while benefiting from the Group’s broader technical capabilities and international resources. The integration will further enhance its ability to provide technical assistance, engineering solutions and project support tailored to local requirements.
“GPIL’s established presence in the New Zealand market and its strong customer relationships make it a valuable addition to Maccaferri,” said Francesco Paolo Lipartiti, Head of SEAP Region. “This transaction represents an important step in our international growth strategy, allowing us to build on an established local business and further develop our activities in New Zealand. Our ambition is to support the evolving needs of the market by bringing together complementary expertise and strengthening our ability to provide specialist engineering solutions and technical support tailored to the needs of the local market.”
“Joining the Maccaferri Group is an exciting next step for GPIL’s growth in the region. We remain committed to our customers, partners and people, and look forward to building on the business we have established in the Region as part of the Maccaferri Group,” said Chris Brockliss, Managing Director of GPIL.
